A Light Messages traditional publishing contract may be offered to an experienced author with a strong sales record of widely respected work.
We contract to purchase the rights to the book and to pay for those rights with royalties earned from the sale of the book. We underwrite all costs for the designing, printing, distribution, and marketing of the book.
The author's royalties for a traditionally published book are usually 25% of the net sales income. This means that the author receives 25% of what we earn on the sale of each book after we pay for printing. We pay company salaries and overhead from our share of the proceeds. We do not charge the author fees of any kind. We do deduct royalties for books that are returned.
We only award a handfull of highly selective traditional publishing contracts each year. A number of those go to authors for whom we are already publishing. This option is limited but is always considered for every submission.
